FAQ

Whistleblower FAQs

Clear answers about confidentiality, anonymity, referral and legal boundaries.

Can AURA investigate a criminal offence?

No. AURA has no police, judicial, prosecutorial or statutory investigative powers.

Can I request confidentiality?

Yes. We can record a request for confidential handling and aim to limit unnecessary disclosure, subject to law and safeguarding duties.

Can I be completely anonymous?

Not through ordinary email. You may omit your name, but your email account and technical records may still identify you. We do not promise absolute anonymity.

Does a report to AURA become an FIR or statutory complaint?

No. AURA is a charitable receiving and referral channel. A formal complaint must be made to the competent authority when required.

What if the concern involves a child?

Safeguarding takes priority. Depending on the facts, referral to Child Helpline 1098/ERSS-112, police or child-protection authorities may be necessary.

What if there is immediate danger?

Use the appropriate emergency service immediately. Government of India ERSS is available at 112.

Will AURA contact the organisation first?

Where appropriate, safe and lawful, AURA may help place the concern before the concerned management or designated authority so it has an opportunity to review and rectify the issue. If there is no response, the response is inadequate, retaliation occurs, or the matter requires statutory action, AURA may guide or support escalation to the competent authority.
